West Sacramento Community Center
1075 West Capitol Avenue, West Sacramento, CA 95691

Originally conceived as a senior center, the program for the West Sacramento Community Center evolved after a citywide needs assessment by Group 4 revealed a need for multigenerational cultural resources in the community, such as performing arts space. The new community center features a black box community theater as well as multipurpose space, arts/crafts space, fitness facilities, and early childhood recreation classrooms. It is an important element of the civic center master plan in West Sacramento, which focuses on creating a strong and vital corridor that promotes a healthy pedestrian environment. The master plan for the community center site was developed in conjunction with the Los Rios Community College District as well as with Yolo County, which operates a public library on the adjacent site.

The project received LEED Gold certification. The new community center opened to the public in February 2011.
