Fairfield Cordelia Library
5050 Business Center Drive, Fairfield , CA 94534
The need for the new Cordelia Library was established through the Solano County Library Facilities Master Plan prepared by Group 4. The new Cordelia Library is the major tenant of this 30,000 square foot mixed-use facility at the center of a new development for residents of the growing Cordelia community. The library is designed for maximum flexibility and supports a highly efficient operational model. Multiple book drop slots rough-sort returns and deposit them directly into the staff work room for quick sorting and reshelving. Self-check stations and reserves are prominently located for high visibility for customers entering and leaving the library. Quiet reading areas are located away from more active uses such as the teen space and storytelling area for maximum acoustical separation. Three enclosed group study rooms are provided with excellent visibility from staff service points. A merchandising-focused “marketplace” with high-interest books and audiovisual materials draws customers in to a cluster of public computers and a “community living room.”
