San Francisco International Airport West Entrance
San Francisco, CA

Group 4 has completed a number of projects for the San Francisco International Airport. The facade of the original San Francisco International Airport was a rare opportunity to design a building with its own elevated roadway. The 18,000 square foot roadway and 30,000 square foot, three-story building were developed as two separate structures. The client wanted the buildings not only to be economic, but also to relate to existing structures and posses a “modernist” feel. The porte-cochere has a facade backdrop with a curved wall and urban-scale graphics. The building protrudes from existing building elements, wrapped in its neighbor’s metal skin. Interior skylights pull inwards and maintain the modernist approach.
