Menlo Park Civic Center and Police Station
701 Laurel Street, Menlo Park, CA 94029
Prior to hiring Group 4, Menlo Park had commissioned a study that had proposed a new police station far beyond the City’s financial resources. With creative planning, Group 4 was able to provide a state-of-the-art police station, city offices, and council facilities for a fraction of the cost. Based on a feasibility analysis of various options, Group 4 concluded that the existing city hall building could be expanded to include a new police facility. In order to keep overall project costs low, we also developed a phasing plan for construction that would allow city staff to remain in the building during construction.
The new police station features an EOC and a user-friendly lobby with public information and self-service forms. The redesigned city hall supports a more efficient and customer-friendly operational model with a one-stop permitting counter.
